  APPLICATION OF NON-VOC SYSTEM

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 - Clean the mold with Zyvax WATERCLEAN

  1. WATERCLEAN should appear uniform in container, if not, then shake or stir.

  2. Apply a small amount of WATERCLEAN directly to the surface to be cleaned.

  3. Using a damp cloth (dampen with clean fresh water) to scrub the WATERCLEAN over the surface you  are cleaning. Work with small sections until the entire surface is scrubbed. For very large parts, an electric or air buffer can be used. DO NOT allow the WATERCLEAN to dry on to the surface you are cleaning.

  4. Remove WATERCLEAN using only clean fresh WATER. This can be done either by rinsing with a clean wet cloth or by using a hand water spray or hose.

  5.  Rinse until no residue remains - surface should "feel" clean.

  6. Allow surface to dry either by wiping dry with a clean cloth, Bounty paper towel or by forced air or heat.

Step 2 - Seal the mold with Zyvax SEALPROOF

  1. Apply a thin coat of SEALPROOF
  2. Air dry for 30 minutes
  3. Apply second thin coat of SEALPROOF
  4. Air dry for 60 minutes before applying either WATERSHIELD or WATERSHIELD V

NOTE:
A heat gun can be used to speed drying time or mold/tool can be placed in an oven for a minimum of 15 minutes at 220°F. WATERSHIELD V can be applied directly to the heated mold surface.

SEALPROOF is easily applied either by wiping with a clean cloth, soft Bounty paper towel, or brushing with a soft, fine bristle brush. Spraying is not recommended. For high gloss parts, use SEALER GP.

Step 3 -
Apply Zyvax WATERSHIELD or WATERSHIELD V release agent

  1. Apply one light coat of WATERSHIELD or WATERSHIELD V release agent using either a clean cloth, soft Bounty paper towel, or hand sprayer. Wait approximately 2 minutes and, using separate clean cloth or Bounty paper towel, wipe to a uniform finish.

  2. Wait 15 minutes and apply the second coat of release agent as before.

  3. Allow a 30 minutes dry time before using mold. If application has been made to a warm surface, a shorter waiting period is needed. The use of heat (hot air, heat gun, oven) can enhance performance.

NOTE:
WATERSHIELD V – is preferred for application to molds which are above room temperature, and will provide improved multiple release characteristics.

WATERSHIELD should only be applied to molds which are at room temperature.

Step 4 - Start molding your parts

There is no way to accurately calculate the number of parts you can take from your mold after an application of the Zyvax system before a “Touch Up” of the mold release is required. Mold surfaces, techniques, raw materials and conditions all vary. At some point, parts will begin to demold with increasing effort. It is up to you to decide when to move to step 5. It is however recommended that on very large or thin flexible moldings or where components have a shallow draft or long pull, that you touch up the corners and any recessed areas of the mold between every molding with a single coat of Watershield or Watershield V to ensure an easy release of the part.

Step 5 - Touch up with one coat of  Zyvax WATERSHIELD or WATERSHIELD V

  2. Allow a 30 minutes dry time before using mold. If application has been made to a warm surface, a shorter waiting period is needed. The use of heat (hot air, heat gun, oven) can enhance performance.

Step 6 - Continue molding

Demolding now should occur with less effort. Continue molding until you are not comfortable with the removal of the part. You can now either repeat Step 5, or move onto Step 7.

Step 7 - Stripping a Mold with Zyvax WATERCLEAN
At this point, you have determined that a single touch up coat does not noticeable enhance the releasability of the part. It is now time to strip the mold using Zyvax WATERCLEAN as outlined in Step 1.  After stripping the mold IT IS ESSENTIAL that you work through from Step 2, Re-Sealing and Releasing the mold surface ready for use.
