LIMITATIONS

When channel glazing is over 100 united inches, or when there is excessive wind load, spacing shims are required to be placed on the perimeter of the fixed stop on 18" centers to compensate for excessive forces. These spacing shims transfer wind loads safely from glass to sash and prevent glass-to-metal contact. Installation must provide adequate tape compression.

COMPOSITION AND MATERIALS

This product is made from a specially formulated compound of 100% solids in a base of cross-linked butyl rubber. Due to the balanced properties of adhesion, cohesion, and elasticity, it does not harden or lose flexibility, adhesion, or elongation after prolonged exposure to high temperatures and ultra-violet light.

Special order versions of this product incorporate a continuous spacer rod within the tape to transfer wind loads from glass to sash and eliminate the need for spacing shims. The continuous spacer is centered throughout each roll. The rod is slightly smaller than tape thickness, i.e., 125" tape size/.100" rod size.
